PRESS RELEASE
Miramar, FL – (June, 2010) – Wireless Maritime
Services (WMS), the world leader in providing cellular service to the
cruise line and ferry industry, announced today that they have renewed
their contract with Oceania Cruises to provide cellular at sea
wireless service to guests and crew members on the Insignia, Nautica
and Regatta. WMS will also
provide service onboard Oceania’s newest ships, the Marina and
Riviera, when they launch in 2011 and 2012.
WMS service allows guests and crew members
traveling on any of the Oceania Cruises ships, with a qualified plan,
to use their cell phones as they currently do on land while the ships
are at sea away from land based cellular phone service. Connectivity
is activated when the ship leaves port and turned off when in range of
land-based providers. WMS is providing uninterrupted service to guests
and crew so they can stay in touch with family, friends or business
associates back home while they enjoy the experiences of their cruise.
Guests and crew can make and receive calls, send text messages and
surf the internet at rates similar to roaming internationally.
“We are
delighted with being chosen again by Oceania
to provide our services onboard the Oceana fleet of ships.
In particular, we’re grateful for the vote of confidence in
being selected for Oceania’s amazing new vessels, the
Marina
and the Riviera.
Oceania
provides a terrific cruise experience to their guests, and we are
honored to support the delivery of such great service to them as well.
The renewal of our agreement confirms the level of service WMS
has provided for Oceania
guests and crew in the past, as well as our commitment to them in the
future” said Jim McKenna, Vice President of Customer Support and
Product Management for WMS.
